Do you need a little time away from it all to rest, relax, and recharge? Miraval is a wellness resort with locations in Austin, Tucson, and the Berkshires. I recently visited the resort in Austin in the heart of Texas hill country and it was an amazing 4 day retreat.
Miraval has a lot of inclusions like food and non-alcoholic beverages, many activities (some are an additional charge), round-trip shared airport shuttle, $175 nightly activity credit, access to the spa (treatments additional), welcome tote bag and water bottle, and all gratuities.
Accommodations are priced per person and are either a single or double-occupancy. The beds are amazingly comfortable and the design is quiet and restful. All rooms have either an outdoor patio or balcony and for those that like to meditate you will find floor cushions and a Tibetan singing bowl.
The vibe at Miraval is one of peace and cell phones are not allowed outside of your room. I really enjoyed unplugging for the weekend and not having to feel connected to the world at all times. There is even a bed frame and sleep sack for your phone to “sleep” during your stay.
As for activities, you can be as active and creative as you like. I took a country line dancing class, learned how to throw a hatchet, indulged in a spa treatment, and tested my balance in a slack-lining class. So much fun! The activity list is nearly endless and guests can work on their physical and mental wellbeing through meditation classes, cleansing ceremonies, paddle boarding, cardio drumming, aqua yoga, ropes course, and so much more. Other interesting activities include bee keeping, pasta making, chicken keeping, and even equine therapy. Private classes are available too if you want.
The food is pretty good for a wellness resort although I was craving French fries by the time I got to the airport. Ingredients are fresh and many are sourced on property. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner include an available buffet plus you can order off the menu. For breakfast you can indulge in pancakes and eggs and a sirloin burger at lunch. Those with a sweet tooth will not be disappointed in dessert.
Miraval is adults-only so leave the kids behind. It’s also part of Hyatt so be sure to include your member number to earn points. Typically Miraval has a fabulous Black Friday sale with an increased resort credit which is their best promotion of the year. McAlpin Travel guests receive an extra $100 resort credit and a room upgrade upon arrival if available.
