My husband and I recently spent a few days in St. Barts and stayed at Cheval Blanc – Isle de France. This small resort is a modern seaside retreat decked out in white and driftwood with a touch of sophisticated elegance. You are greeted by a staff of young french ladies in matching dresses with their hair in buns and handsome young men with great tans.

We stayed in room 22 which is a garden bungalow located across the “street” from the main hotel but tucked away in a secluded garden. Our room had a large king bed with a tv cabinet at the end of the bed, double french doors out to the deck complete with a love seat, two chairs and a table, and a large bathroom.

You will find a large soaker tub next to a wall of windows (shade is optional) overlooking the gardens, double sinks, and a large shower with a rainfall shower head.

There was also lots of closet and storage space. We stopped by the market near the airport and stocked our room with snacks, drinks, and other sundries. Be aware of tiny ants that frequented our bungalow so bring plenty of plastic ziplock bags to store your food. We also had a fully stocked bar upon arrival.

As a Virtuoso guest you will receive a welcome amenity, daily breakfast (we chose to have ours in the room), upgrade upon arrival (if available), 80E spa credit.

There are several garden bungalows and suites with their own pool on this side of the property but if you want an ocean view then you’ll need to book in the main hotel.

View from our deck
You can find ocean rooms with direct ocean views but note that these rooms are in the center of the property right next to the main restaurant and the pool, so no privacy. Just away from the main hotel you can stay in junior suite and villas that afford views of the ocean and some with their own pools.
