Did you send your kids to summer camp and wish there was a grown-up version that maybe served alcohol and had a fantastic spa? Your wish has been granted! BodyHoliday located on St. Lucia in the Caribbean is an all-inclusive resort with so many daily activities to choose from. I recently spent 5 days there and came back so rested and relaxed. Their mantra is “give us your body for a week and we’ll give you your mind back”.

Main beach
With only 155 rooms and a staff of over 400 you will not want for anything. Included in the rate is a daily 50 minute spa treatment (except for arrival and departure days), all food and beverages (some wines are an additional charge), water sports including kayaking, skiing, paddle boarding, tubing, wake boarding, and sailing, daily fitness classes ranging from yoga to pilates to spin classes, golf, tennis, archery, tai chi, snorkeling and scuba, and so much more!

The minimum age is 16 throughout most of the year except for Christmas, Easter, July and August when the minimum drops to 12 so families can travel together.

Manager’s reception

Sunset cruise
During the week there are different events to help the guests mingle with each other. Each Wednesday there’s the manager’s cocktail reception followed by a Caribbean buffet (try the roti!), Thursday night is the staff/guest talent show, and Friday night includes a sunset cruise on a large catamaran with drinks, appetizers, and local music followed by a beach BBQ.

Beach setup
With so many different activities to choose from you can be as active or as inactive as you like. My routine was to schedule a few activities in the morning followed by my daily spa treatment at 11, eat lunch and spend the afternoon at the beach or pool. If you’re thirsty or hungry at the beach, just raise your red flag and an attendant will bring you whatever you like.

Quiet and relaxing spot
So how’s the food? With several restaurants on property there are always options for those who want to eat healthy or would like pizza and burgers. Everything I tried was really good and with so many buffet options you are able to try new foods that you wouldn’t be able to at home.
Cariblue – breakfast and lunch buffet (themed daily – French, Indian, Caribbean, etc) and dinner Thursday night’s tasting menu inside – one complimentary and one extra charge of $80 pp including wine pairings

How do you get there? The main airport is about 1 1/2 hours from the resort and you can get direct flights from Atlanta, New York, Charlotte, Miami, and London. You can either take a taxi or shuttle to the resort or take a helicopter for a 10 minute scenic ride over the rain forest to the old airport near the resort and then a quick 15 minute taxi ride. I highly recommend taking the heli!
