Weekend Getaways – Georgia
I am so blessed to live in the south and call it “home”. With so many different vacation spots it is hard not to find a weekend getaway. Let’s take the state of Georgia and see what it has to offer.
First off is the city of Atlanta, Georgia where you can take in a Braves or Falcons game, visit Six Flags, enjoy spectacular shopping at Phipps Plaza, a trip to the Georgia Aquarium, or maybe a visit to the High Museum of Art. There are plenty of things to do in a weekend whether you’re with your special someone or your family.
One of the best locations in town to experience all these things is the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead which is a true example of southern hospitality. The hotel has deluxe rooms starting at $229 for a weekend night in October in addition to suites and a club level with 5 food servings daily plus access to your own private concierge.
For those wanting to relax there is an indoor pool with large doors opening to the outside and a spa.
The food is also spectacular with afternoon tea being served Thursdays through Sundays with seatings at 2:30 and 3:00 as well as a Sunday brunch.
The Virtuoso added amenities include a possible upgrade upon arrival (subject to availability), daily breakfast for 2 in-room guests, $100 resort credit and early check-in/late check-out (subject to availability). Other Virtuoso hotels in Atlanta include the Intercontinental Buckhead, Mandarin Oriental, St. Regis, and Ritz-Carlton Atlanta.
Just 75 miles from Atlanta is the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds Plantation located on Lake Oconee. Imagine a luxury lake retreat combined with southern hospitality and you’re there.
Activities include 5 golf courses, an outdoor infinity pool, fishing, non-motorized water sports, luxurious spa, as well as children’s activities.
There are many guestroom choices with the smallest room at 460 square feet with a marble bathroom and its own balcony with the option of club level, followed by suites. If that isn’t enough space then consider renting one of the lakeside cottages which can either be a 2 bedroom at 1800 square feet or a 3 bedroom at 2400 square feet.
And don’t forget about the food. Where else do you know of that has a BBQ butler that will help you select your meats, types of wood, and then direct you on the best way to prepare it? If that’s not enough then maybe the daily s’ mores by the lake will entice you to visit.
Virtuoso amenities include possible upgrade at time of booking, breakfast for 2 daily, complimentary valet parking, $100 resort credit and early check-in/late check-out.
