My family and I recently spent a weekend in Highlands, North Carolina at the Old Edwards Inn and loved every minute of it.  The Inn is situated in the heart of Highlands and within walking distance to many shops and restaurants and includes 95 luxury rooms and suites, restaurant, spa, fitness center, 2 pools, conference center, and several other areas to play. The original historic Inn was built in 1878 and consists of 14 rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the building.  There is only […] Continue reading →

One of the little known secrets of the Disney resorts are their two beach properties in the US, both located on the East Coast.  The first one is located southeast of Walt Disney World in Vero Beach.  The other is located on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina.  I chose this resort to visit over the long Columbus Day weekend this past October.  As a child living in Alabama it was an easy drive south on I-65 to the Gulf Coast beaches (Gulf Shores, Destin, etc.) so I never considered […] Continue reading →

Tennessee is now the state where I live and it too has become “home” to me although you will never see me wear orange or sing “Rocky Top”.  I’m an Alabama girl through and through!  Whether you want to visit the mountains in the east or the Music City in the middle of the state, there are great weekend getaways waiting for you. First off is Blackberry Farms located in Walland, TN just south of Knoxville in the Great Smokey Mountains.  Think of a sophisticated culinary […] Continue reading →

I am so blessed to live in the south and call it “home”.  With so many different vacation spots it is hard not to find a weekend getaway.  Let’s take the state of Georgia and see what it has to offer. First off is the city of Atlanta, Georgia where you can take in a Braves or Falcons game, visit Six Flags, enjoy spectacular shopping at Phipps Plaza, a trip to the Georgia Aquarium, or maybe a visit to the High Museum of Art.  There are plenty of things to do in a weekend whether […] Continue reading →

New York City

New York City has always been a favorite city of mine.  I used to travel here on business when I worked with Saks Incorporated and regretted not moving there after college like so many do.  So when my sister was to be in NYC on business I jumped at the chance to visit.  I ended up going with my mom and 12 year-old niece to visit my sister the week of July 4th. We arrived in the city and immediately checked in at our hotel, Waldorf Astoria Towers, which is a very historic and iconic […] Continue reading →
