McAlpin Travel is owned and operated by Karen McAlpin, CTA, who has always had a passion for travel and is now turning this passion into a full-time business. Her background includes a degree in Interior Design followed by 5 years in product development working for Saks Incorporated. This career really heightened the travel bug for Karen because she was able to spend time in New York City, San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles as well as overseas trips to Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Taiwan. Other favorite destinations include the Turks and Caicos, Hawaii, England, Ireland, and France. Her bucket list includes the Galapagos, Chile, South Pacific including New Zealand and Australia, and seeing the “Big 5” in Africa.

How do I work?
First of all we will start with a DISCOVERY meeting so I can get an understand of the type of experience you are looking for and the vital information (who, what, when, where, and why).
Then we move on to the DESIGN phase where we work together to create the details of your trip.
Next will be the CONNECT phase which is between the time we book your trip until you depart where we will fine tune the details (packing lists, dining reservations, etc.) and get excited about your upcoming travel experience.
Then comes the EXPERIENCE of the trip where we will still stay in contact to discuss any issues that may have arisen and you just might receive an unexpected surprise along the way.
Finally, when you return home we will SHARE the details of your trips and discuss your favorite experiences.
What about fees?
The planning process for custom trips takes time and is a collaborative process between the client, myself, and the vendors and this fee covers the initial consultation, planning and research, booking and managing all travel components, as well as support during travel.
Fees will be charge before the first itinerary is presented and is charged regardless of whether a client books the trip with us.
Continental US $100 and up
Theme parks $100 and up
Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii, and Mexico $150 and up
Europe, South America, Asia, and Africa $250 and up per week
Cruise $50 per cabin ($250 max)
Airfare $75 per ticket if not booked as part of a package
